Hannah Somerton

Welcome! My name is Hannah Somerton, Im a queer neurodivergent artist.

I  create and resided on the West Coast of BC

this is the stolen homelands of the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. With deep gratitude I acknowledge the incredible gift and honour it is to create here.

I pour my heart and soul into every piece created

I am deeply inspired by my ancestors and the subtle unknowns of this world. I work alongside my intuition, the plant world and subconscious realm.

I am a artist, learning from my mother and years of working at a local bead store. All the designs you see are carefully crafted by my own hands. The process of beading requires immense time and patience.

The pace of the natural world is a guide for my work

I often find myself lost in the meditative process of weaving together tiny beads while spending quite moments with the trees, ocean, and sunshine.

Each creation is a love letter to capture the essence of my surroundings.  My art is personal souvenirs, holding precious memories of the places and times I hold dear. My hope is when you wear a pieces of my art you feel this.

I take great care in selecting materials for my creations

The glass beads I use are sourced from Japan and the Czech Republic, ensuring their quality and uniqueness. Every material I choose is done so consciously, with a commitment to supporting the environment and the community.

XO Hannah
